Eagles fly over Lady Bulls to earn 4th win
The Belfast Eagles defeated the Dundalk Lady Bulls for the first time in the season, and in their first competitive match since being withdrawn from the league on at the beginning of March.
The match finished in a 3-1 win for the Eagles in what was a very warm welcoming back to the IIHDL. A goal just minutes into the first period got the Eagles on the scoreboard, and then 2 more goals from defenceman Rab Grieve sealed the deal for the Eagles to recieve all 3 points.
However the Lady Bulls didn’t give up as easily as first hoped, as a mix up behind the net caused the puck to go infront and deflected past Eagles goaltender Jon Arnold, who was on the way to his 3rd league shutout. Defenceman Al Hamilton recieved a 10 minute unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the play, with forward Gareth Savage joining him on an identical penalty just 2 minutes later. But the Lady Bulls couldn’t capitalize on the short benched Eagles with the scoreline remaining the way it was.
The Eagles next match is on Wednesday night against the Whalers, followed by an action packed weekend of games against the Latvian Hawks on Saturday, and the Dundalk Bulls B team on Sunday night to close out the season.

Storm fly past Eagles
The IIHL Development Division took centre stage Saturday night once the IIHL was over. The Belfast Eagles hosted the Kilkenny City Storm at the Dundalk Ice Dome. The game was as most are on a Saturday night a little behind schedule. However, once it got going, things were great. Things couldn’t have gotten off to a better start for Kilkenny either as they found themselves up a goal after 2:35 of play. Vladimers Nizjolko got the go ahead goal. They then furthered their lead with a goal from Harry Maharaj with the assist going to the zamboni driver, Roman Grobarcik. Continue reading this post…
